Thunar 4.16 delete key moves the cursor up. In the previous version 1.8.xx the cursor moved down when using the delete key to delete files. Is there any way to have Thunar exhibit the old behavior? I am using Manjaro xfce (Unstable) and Arch Linux in a VM and both exhibit this behavior.
Thanks. It has taken some getting used to when deleting multiple files that are contiguous in the list. I have to start from the bottom when sorted alphabetically.
The current behavior may not be optimal or what the user expects. It would be best to check how other file managers handle this and if there is a common pattern, adapt it.
#69 (closed) changed it from not selecting anything to select something. I suppose I picked thw wrong "something" and we closed #324 (closed) too quickly
Nautilus: Select next fileNemo: Select next fileCaja: Select next fileDolphin: Select next filePCManFM: Select next file
.. so yes, it would be good if thunar as well would select the next file :)
Looks like we have some extra-logic to force selection of the previous file instead of doing nothing ... while doing nothing already selects the next file. :)
I tested this with Xubuntu 21.04 beta with Thunar 4.17.1 and it is only working in list view but neither in icon nor in compact view. So can we please reopen this issue? Many thanks in advance.
Just re-testet 4.17.1 and 4.16.3 and it works fine for me in all views. As well tried 4.16.2 to see the difference.
Note that the "selected item", depending on the used theme, might not be very good visible in icon/compact view. Only if you use the arrow keys to navigate, the highlightning will be used (that was different in 4.16.2 for some reason).
