xfce4-display-settings Doesn't apply profile, pretends it's already applied
Hello,
currently testing xfce4-display-settings-4.19.2, which had undergone some changes. I had hoped they would fix one of the biggest issues I'm having with display-settings ever since profiles got introduced, but unfortunately, they remain. :(
Basically, profiles almost never work. With a saved profile being correctly set up for a second monitor next to the existing monitor, and attaching said second monitor, about 2/3 of the time a bug triggers with these effects:
- Settings dialog pops up with the new monitor disabled or overlapping with current monitor (the profile has it enabled and positioned next to the existing one)
- If I switch to the Advanced tab, I see the previously setup profile with a checkmark next to it -> Should already be enabled
- Manually pressing apply: Nothing happens
- After manually enabling/moving monitors and going back to the profile and pressing Apply: Either nothing happens, or a random monitor that is enabled (and should be enabled according to the profile) ends up being disabled.
Basically, when this bug is triggered, Pressing apply on the profile that should be active results in either no action, or wrong action.
I have a strong suspicion some race-conditions are happening here. Haven't had much success trying to debug it, but it's fairly consistent here.
Settings:
- When a display is connected: Show dialog
- First try to automatically enable a profile: Always
- Profile correctly set up (as far as I can tell in settings-editor)
Thanks!
