[Feature Request] Open panel menu with superkey
I apologize if this is a duplicate post, but I could not find any requests mentioned about this, which I find hard to believe. Also I am not sure if this is the correct place to request this. I mentioned this in the Whisker Menu section but was told that was not the correct place for this request.
It is rather common to be able to use the “Super” key to be able to.....
-Single Super key press & release = toggle panel menu open/closed
-Hold Super key = use as a modifier key
This would open whatever menu you have chosen to use in your panel: XFCE Application Menu, Whisker Menu, etc.
Would also be nice to be able to have a setting that provides a field that allows user to select the command they want to run with the Super key. For example, what if a user wants to use the Super key to open the Whisker Menu in the center of their screen with the “-c” center option. Or wants to use a 3rd party application menu instead.
Currently in XFCE this requires a 3rd party application such as “xfce-superkey” to be loaded in order to be able to use the Super key in this way, which kind of seems a little strange. Also I don't think this application allows you to change what panel menu is used.
The distro I am using already handles this very well but I always felt this should be integrated directly into XFCE itself or an XFCE approved plugin.
If this is not something that would/could be handled by the XFCE panel, if someone could tell me where would be the correct place to make this request.
Would be curious if anyone else is interested in this as well?
Thank you for anyone willing to add this to XFCE.
