The linked report mentions that copying files (-> clipboard) triggers this crash, so the fix for #588 (closed) may be the culprit.

Created !165 (merged) with a tentative fix and uploaded a patched thunar package for testing if someone can easily reproduce the crash: https://pkgbuild.com/~foutrelis/thunar-4.16.9-unstripped-tentative-patch/

I was able to verify the fix by abusing the clipboard with while xclip -sel c <<<asd; do :; done and then opening and closing thunar windows. Without the patch the crash occurs within a few tries and patched thunar doesn't crash after many tens of closed windows. As the fix is kind of obvious as well, it's safe to assume it's correct. ️️
