When paste item in folder it disappears until refreshed
Version 4.18.4
Another thing that I have noticed many times but cannot narrow down what it is. I notice sometimes when I paste items into a folder, they will not show up until a refresh is applied. Sometimes when the paste occurs you can see the filename flash very quickly but then disappears, until refresh. I remember this occurring often when folder is empty and one item is pasted, but not sure.
Just pasted 4 items into an empty folder and 3 show up, could see the 4th file quickly but then disappeared, until refreshed.

Just to make it clear, the use-case is:
- open two different folders
- copy 10 files from folder A (STRG+C)
- paste the files into folder B (STRG+V)
--> Cannot reproduce, works fine for me with thunar master and 4.18.4 for a local and a sftp mounted folder
I tried with "use intermediate file on copy" enabled and disabled.
So if possible, please go more into detail for your reproducer, if required, provide some script.
The whole folder-monitoring mechanics anyhow were reworked for other reasons in thunar master … so even if you find a good reproducer, it might be already fixed on master.

This issue is filed against thunar 4.18.4, so I suppose your observation is not related.
I am not able to reproduce the problem you describe for master, however yea, it indeed looks like these is some out-of-sync problem on master … there are as well #1350 (closed) and #1326 (closed) which are possibly related.
Will try to figure out what is going on there.

I am not sure I understand the comments above, but I typed the following response before I read this.
@alexxcons First off my recent bug reports were closed for various reasons, which I understand, but I couldn't respond to them so I will just thank you here for looking into those issues I reported, I appreciate it.
I apologize this one I have not been able to narrow down when/why this happens but I could have explained this a little better based on what I do know.
I have the default settings set for “Advanced - File Transfer” Transfer files in parallel: Local files only Use intermediate file on copy: Never Verify file checksum on copy: Never
I noticed this happening when using Thunar in single file pane mode. -Select some items, say 4 files just for this example. -Cut those selected 4 files to clipboard using Ctrl+X (STRG+X) -Then I would enter a different folder, often in an empty subfolder within the same path as where the selected items were cut from. -Then I would paste those 4 files into that subfolder using Ctrl+V (STRG+V) -Sometimes the 4 files will paste but one of them you only see very quickly but it disappears. -When you hit F5 to refresh that file then becomes visible.
As mentioned I just have not been able to narrow down why this only occurs sometimes, because it does not happen all the time. If I can gather any more information I will let you know. As you said this might have already been fixed with other updates. That is one of tricky things about Linux especially when using a Debian based distro, I am testing / reporting these bugs based on an outdated version of Thunar. My distro unfortunately does not offer the newest available.
Anyways, thank you again for taking the time to test these bugs out, and for working on Thunar in general.
