Changing .desktop files causes weird behavior

Hi there. I was running the docklike plugin on both my personal laptop and my work desktop. On my laptop, I had two instances of docklike plugin, and on the work desktop, only one. Both of them exhibited weird behavior whenever .desktop files changed, like from an upgrade to system packages or flatpak packages.

On my personal laptop, I had two instances with mostly identical pinned apps. Whenever there was a system update, the second instance consistently always crashed during the update, prompting the panel to ask me if I wanted to remove it.

On my work computer, the single instance did not crash during system updates, but duplicate icons appeared. For example, if I had Firefox running and it was updated, a second non-pinned Firefox appeared. The existing Firefox window was not considered part of the pinned app. If I restarted the panel, it went back to normal.
