Custom Formatting

Description
Custom formats (# ^ 0 _ -) are not being interpreted properly and causing the clock itself to become blank.
This formula: -- %A, %^b %d, %Y -- %I:%M %p
Should output (at the time of writing): -- Thursday, JUN 18, 2015 -- 5:44 PM
Instead there is nothing displayed and the clock becomes the same width as a separator.
