default working directory

Feature request: It would be nice to be able to specify, within the GUI application, a default directory for image storage. I've looked and cannot find this option anywhere. /tmp is not where I want users going to find their files.
Some place under /home/ would be preferable. User selectable directory in settings/preferences would be idea.
