Xfce4 fails to display after xf86-video-intel update
I don't know if this is a problem in xf86-video-intel or xfce4, and I can't seem to find appropriate errors in log files. Xfce4 will not display after the mentioned update to xf86-video-intel. Plasma displays as expected.
OS: Artix Linux
xfwm4: 4.18.0-1
xf86-video-intel: Update from 1:2.99.917+916+g31486f40-2
to 1:2.99.917+923+gb74b67f0-1
Details: On boot, lightdm displays. I select xfce4 desktop (as opposed to plasma), and log in. The majority of the screen is black, except for a small square (~0.5in) in the top left corner. This square shows a small portion of the desktop background. The mouse is still displayed and can be moved. Brightness keys still work.
The desktop seems to be operating invisibly, because I can logout by doing the following:
- Pressing Meta (to open the whiskermenu), typing
logout
(to select the logout option), pressing enter (to open the logout confirmation), and pressing enter again (to confirm the logout).
I cannot see anything happening during this procedure, except for the mouse icon changing, but it logs out to lightdm successfully. The mouse icon changes appropriately, eg, when I press Ctrl-Alt-t, even though I cannot see anything else happening.
The screen locker still works. After the standard screen lock time, moving the mouse shows the screen lock correctly, but typing in the password again shows the invisible/black desktop.
Where can I find the appropriate log files?
