inconsistent and inncorrect teminology is messages when unmounting and ejecting media in xfdesktop
I reported the following issue here thunar#1176 but then I realized that it is likely not about Thunar but about xfdesktop, so I choose to create this separate issue:
When I unmount (not remove) a mounted USB stick using xfdesktop's context menu I get the message "Device was unmounted. The device >title< was safely removed from the system." I think this is an unfortunate choice of wording (apparently the same one as for safe removal of the device, where it actually applies). It should rather say "The volume >title< has been unmounted." (I'm using German as the system language, so the actual wording in English might differ, but basically the same inconsistency should apply.)
With a mounted DVD in a built-in DVD drive, the same issue applies. When unmounting, the DVD is referred to as a "device": "The device ... is being unmounted".
Some further weird behavior: when safely removing a DVD which has been unmounted before, I get a message "data is being written to the device (sic!)". This is certainly strange for a r/o medium. Interestingly this message does not occur when directly ejecting the mounted DVD.
Interestingly the messages are different from their counterparts produced by Thunar when selecting the equivalent options there. For example, Thunar does not claim to still write data to a DVD. In addition ot the inconsistent terminology mentioned above, it would be very nice if the behavior and the messages could be aligned between xfdesktop and Thunar.
