When dragging and dropping files from the desktop onto a folder also on the desktop that contains files of same filename, the "skip all"/"rename all"/"replace all" behave as singular "skip"/"rename"/"replace"
(this was tested in a live session of Mint 21.0 Xfce with Thunar 4.16.10 and Manjaro 21.3.36 with Thunar 4.16.11; unfortunately I'm too much of a Linux beginner to have any clue on how to test the newer 4.17.x versions of Thunar)
Simply put, when on that actual desktop itself (not the Desktop
folder viewed in Thunar) and you drag and drop files from the desktop onto a folder that is also on the desktop (without opening that folder), and that folder already contains files of the same file name, the resulting "skip all"/"rename all"/"replace all" behave as singular "skip"/"rename"/"replace".
This is quite simple to replicate, making sure that all steps are performed on the actual desktop and not the Desktop
folder viewed in Thunar:
- create a folder on the desktop
- on the desktop, create two or more new blank files named something like
1.txt
,2.txt
, etc - drag and drop those newly-created blank files from step 2 onto the folder that you created in step 1 without actually opening the aforementioned folder
- repeat step 3, and observe the usual dialog box asking if you want to skip, rename, replace, or cancel
- in the aforementioned dialog box, click either "skip all", "rename all", or "replace all"
- observe how it actually behaves as a singular "skip"/"rename"/"replace"
