Default 'backdrops' or 'xfce' folder for the background will no longer be listed if you change background to a different folder and then log out
(this was tested on live sessions of Mint 21 beta Xfce, Xubuntu 22.04, and Manjaro 21.3.5 Xfce; Mint 21 beta Xfce was additionally tested using a local installation)
Simply put, if you go into the desktop background options and select a folder that is not the default backdrops
(Mint & Xubuntu) or xfce
(Manjaro) folder then, when you log out, that default backgrounds folder will no longer be listed if you go to change your desktop background.
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
-
boot your Xfce distro of choice (whether live or installed locally)
-
set the desktop background to a file that is located in a different folder than the default (i.e. on Mint or Xubuntu, not
backdrops
and, on Manjaro, notxfce
) -
log out and then log back in
-
now when you open the "Desktop Settings..." select the "Folder" drop-down on the "background" tab, you'll notice that the default 'backdrops' or
xfce
folder will now be completely missing from the list
This is particularly troublesome on Mint and Xubuntu since the majority of the stock backgrounds are located in backdrops
.
