XFCE 4.14 menu popup at mouse pointer broken

None of the following commands are working for me:

• xfce4-popup-applicationsmenu -p
• xfce4-popup-directorymenu -p
• xfce4-popup-windowmenu -p

They work fine if I omit the -p, opening the menu on my panel, but with -p they just don't do anything.

xfce4-popup-whiskermenu -p however works just fine!

Nothing shows up in dmesg or journalctl. I am getting the following in ~/.xsession-errors:

(xfce4-panel:1467): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 20:20:45.860: gtk_menu_popup_at_widget: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
