Impossible to set default zoom value to use when entering new folders

I find the icon size in Icon View to be too large after the update to 4.18. Zooming out one step makes them revert back to my preferred size. However, when entering a new folder, the 100% zoom value is used, which ends up in me zooming out one step when entering every new directory.

Thunar does not appear to have an option to specify the zoom level to use when entering new folders.

A workaround for this is to disable "Remember view settings for each folder" but this disables a lot of other important functionality as well.
