Broken Ctrl+Shift+click functionality

Expected outcome

IMO that is not the expected outcome for the steps you gave.

Click acct-group.

This one file should be selected, agreed.

Shift-click app-admin.

All file between, including acct-group and app-admin should be selected now.

Ctrl-Shift-click app-cdr.

Afaik CTRL+SHift extends the most recent selection, while keeping previously selected files.

So now all files from acct-group till app-cdr should be selected, different from what you expect.

What you most likely want to do:

Click acct-group.
Shift-click app-admin.
Ctrl-click app-backup.
Ctrl-Shift-click app-cdr.

That would result to the outcome of the pic you attached, however that seems to work fine here .. so no idea what the issue is about.

Does the bug show for single click mode or for both modes? For the main view, options are icon view, list view and compact view, where you can enable "expandable folders" for list view. Do you refer to this one? Or do you refer to the tree-view side-pane / bookmarks side-pane? I don't feel like testing all possible combinations, just because you missed being precise.

Now I see it could be my fault about the tree view. Really don't know why I could name a list as a tree... I really sorry about that.

So, the starter comment could be about the side-pane / bookmarks side-pane at all, ugh... And it's not implemented (and wasn't meant to be) for the main view...

UPD: the side-pane / bookmarks side-pane doesn't understand Ctrl/Shift at all.

But:

Why does the modifier order matter?

I think the second key is lost. E.g. <Ctrl-Shift--> zooms out, <Shift-Ctrl--> starts the search field.

I have no idea what you mean...

For me pressing Ctrl+Shift is the same as pressing Shift+Ctrl. Both activate the same modifier mask.

@kuraga maybe you did some modifications to mouse-input or xmodmap in some way or the other. Can you reproduce the problem on your site as well when using a fresh user account?

Good to know this, thank you for testing. So most likely an issue on your side.

You could check for existence of some optional files, like ~/.keyboard or ~/.Xmodmap and check some suspicious entry in e.g. ~/.xsessionrc ~/.profile.

You could as well do thunar -q;mv ~/.config/Thunar/accels.scm ~/.config/Thunar/accels.scm.backup; thunar to reset thunar keyboard shortcuts

Since it seems to be some configuration problem on your side, I'll close the issue

I had been reproducing #17 (comment 17868), let's place it here:

Select one file with normal click:

Extend selection with shift+click:

Add to previous selection with control+click:

Control+Shift+click should both add and extend, but currently only adds:

Possibly it just isn't meant to be implemented...

For list view + single click mode you need to apply exo!86 (merged).

For the other two views and list view + double click mode it should work fine already.

On double click I have some issues... It try to open the folders... Maybe my double click is bad.

It is single click mode and double click mode... You do not actually double click when selecting the files.

I have no idea why it does not work for you. Did it work with Thunar 4.18?

If you have Nemo or Caja or installed, check if it works there.
