Avatar Not Working

We are unable to upload an avatar and have it display. In the past it used to be you needed to use a gravatar but since the update to the front-end the messaging is gone. You can upload an avatar, it will display in your profile, but not in any message. Avatars continue to work for those created prior to migration.
