xfce4-weather-plugin does not work with Xubuntu 18.04
I have seen the new fix for the xfce4-weather-plugin
but unfortunately the version from https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-weather-plugin/ does not work in Xubuntu 18.04. First off, when installing it, it is looking for xdt-autogen
4.14.0, but the xfce4-dev-tools
that is in the 18.04 repos only installs version 4.12.0 which it claims is too old. I did install the 4.14.0 version of the xfce4-dev-tools
and I was able to install the xfce4-weather-plugin
just fine. However, the panel does not recognize that the xfce4-weather-plugin
even exists. In fact, I cannot get any version above 0.8.11 to install successfully and be seen by the panel in Xubuntu 18.04.
If I modify from the source of 0.8.11 the weather.c file and correct the URL line I am able to see the weather plugin for the panel and it works great. I have written a quick fix to patch the file at:
https://askubuntu.com/a/1274260/231142
This is to fix the proper API URL to be seen of https://api.met.no/weatherapi/locationforecast/2.0/?lat=xx.xxxxxx&lon=-xxx.xxxxxx&altitude=xxxx
