Non-optimal Display in multicolumn deskbar panels
When showing the battery plugin (with the icon and most textual output turned on) in a vertical, multi-column deskbar panel (in my case: 2 or 3 rows, 128 pixel per row):
- The plugin spans all three rows, i.e. uses the full width of the panel.
- The battery icon is scaled to one row in width and centered.
- Power state, temperature, percentage and remaining time are shown one by one in four separate lines below the icon, also centered.
- As the icon and the text is much narrower than the panel, there is plenty blank, unused space (approx. one column wide on each side) to the left and to the right of the icon and the text, i.e. the actual information shown uses only one third of the panel space occupied by the plugin.
Expected behaviour:
If the deskbar panel is wide enough, the plugin should be displayed in the same way as in horizontal panels, for example
- First column: Icon
- Second column: Power source and temperature
- Third column: Percentage and time
This would reduce the panel height occupied by the plugin by almost two thirds and significantly reduce the wasted panel area.
