It would be nice to have a new default wallpaper for the Xfce 4.18 release … Though I have no idea how to do graphics myself
So if you have the required creative skills, wallpaper-donations would be very welcome !
Like the old Xfce wallpapers, the new wallpaper should be a vector graphic with an unmodified Xfce mouse on it and some fancy shapes.
It as well would be ok for me to have combination of vector graphic and photo (See this comment)
I think it makes sense to leave some monotonic space on the image, where desktop icons can be put.
Wallpapers sticking closer to the Xfce color palette may better match the overall look of the desktop.
Note that the image must be all yours and needs to be licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. If you do not specify a license in your post, then we will assume that you are licensing the image under the CC BY-SA 4.0.
The image should not mention the software (FOSS or proprietary) used to create the wallpaper in the metainfo.
The deadline for submissions is the 20. November. So we will have another week for voting and have it ready for the pre2 release
You can upvote a specific wallpaper by using or as reaction on the according posting ... best wait until the submission deadline to make your decision ! You can upvote as many wallpapers as you like.
Voting will be closed on 27. November. Like that, the new wallpaper can be utilized for Xfce4.18 pre2, which is planned for beginning of December.
In order to participate, just post your wallpaper submission below (one wallpaper per posting to simplify voting later on) !

would be a combination of vector graphic and photo welcome, too?
Photos nowadays are usually sized 6000x4000, 24 Megapixels. Cropped to anything 16:9 it's still way more than 4K resolution. Even a fast, lower quality algorithm, that tends to cause a few artefacts, is good enough to down scale a wallpaper to any wanted display size, without making the wallpaper ugly. IOW for wallpaper purpose a high resolution photo or pixel graphic should be as good as a vector graphic.
Does it matter, if the vector graphic art work is done on a non-Linux tablet PC or do you expect usage of Linux FLOSS software only?
What does "with a Xfce mouse" mean? Is a modified mouse or a group of modified mice or even an abstracted mouse allowed, too?
Is it ok to use an official logo? If so, consider to post a link to official logos? Are there any logo related official rules?

Personally I would prefer bare vector graphic, in order to follow the direction of the previous Xfce default wallpapers. (And I suppose bare vector graphic would be smaller in size) Though I as well would accept a combination. In any case, it will make sense to leave some monotonic space on it where desktop icons can be put.

Does not matter to me ( I anyhow cannot control that ). Though the end-product should not mention the software used to create the wallpaper (e.g. in the picture metainfo) ... no need to do promotion.

Just using the mouse is ok?
A little bit different light reflexes on a black mouse or shadows on a white mouse are ok, too?
Assuming the black and the white mouse should have zebra stripe, rainbow and plain grey coloured children, is it allowed to make one of those children XFCE's next mannequin?
What about a mouse crawling out of a bucket of paint and only 3/4 of it can be seen, while 1/4 is still hidden by the bucket?

I dont understand what is the problem with the mice we have available .. please just reuse them. I dont want to introduce a new mascot within this contest.
Thanks for creating those extra ones! The color combinations look more fitting (see previous wallpapers), but maybe it is time for something new, and the purple variant would certainly give Xfce a new touch.
no, is vectorized from my photo of Snow Leopard from Czech Zoo, looking as landscape map is sideeffect :)
not sure is not problem macOS "association" (i'm not user of it), but i use this photo some time as wallpaper in Xfce and when found this "survey" then was first candidate to vectorize it :)
One thing: Please use a separate posting for each wallpaper in order to allow voting on a specific wallpaper later on (I plan to utilize the or emoji for voting .. so that the wallpaper with the most hearths will win)
Ideally yes .. at least like that we could vote for them separately. (If you put them into the same post and they win, the one with my personal favourite color will be the official Xfce 4.18 wallpaper :D)
