Screensaver only works once

Description

I am running the screensaver on Mint 17.3

Problem is that the screensaver only activates once. Once the screensaver/screenlocker is deactivated, it will not activate again, however long I wait.

I need then to go into the user interface, and toggle a setting, and only then the screensaver will activate again after the set period of idleness. But again, it will then only work once.....
