Slow startup when folder has many images

Description

When a folder has many images (+300), Ristretto takes a long time to open and is laggy for a while even after the startup. I imagine this is related to the thumbnail cache creation, however it happens even when thumbnail bar is not visible. So if this performance issue is caused by thumbnail cache, is it possible to disable it when user select to not show thumbnail bar?
