Description
** Request Summary
Request a FLIP toggle to make mousepad act in READONLY/VIEWER mode, or back into default EDITOR mode.
** Background
Most of the time in this use-case, it's used as a VIEWER only, thus I'd like the file to be READ-ONLY so errant keystrokes aren't making changes to the file. That window is left open for weeks-months on the desktop, but on rare occasions I may want to edit the file, so I'd like to be able to toggle an option and switch it back to normal editing mode.
Possibly this doesn't make sense... but it's one way I use Mousepad. The importance of this is likely low.
** Current Behavior
Currently if accidentally make a change, a "*" appears before the filename at the top of the window telling me I make a change. If I notice that I usually hit ^Z to reverse it, this isn't as easy if it's done days later so it'll usually mean closing file & re-opening.
** Desired Behavior
I have a menu option, or keystroke that can toggle READ ONLY or EDITOR mode allowing me to use it as a text viewer most of the time, and editor for the times I want to change the file.
** Current OS/package details
Debian Buster/10/stable (though the box I'm accessing bugzilla with runs Ubuntu 20.10, and I can also test packages on most Xubuntu's and/or Debian Bullseye/11/sid if helpful, but where I use mousepad this way is currently debian_stable)
