XFCE Workspace Switching Different - Lag / Slow - NOT HUGE ISSUE - Something Different - Questions more then Issue

I may have never noticed this before because I was using a 10-15 year old system and could have thought it was that.

When I switch desktops it takes a little under a second I feel using keyboard commands?

Is this expected, and is there anyway to make it faster. I feel at one point I used to be able to switch back and forth faster, but possibly a few years ago (3+?) things started to be a bit slower? Was their a refactor, and is there a way to tune?

NOT A COMPLAINT, I just wonder what my options are.

Sorry if it seems trivial, I am a heavy user of the workspace option, and avoid application switching as much as possible.

That seems odd, the code to switch workspaces hasn't changed in years.

It is worth noting that the concept of „workspaces“ is actually alien to the underlying display server, it's implemented entirely in the window manger by showing or hiding windows depending on which workspace their are placed on, so it is possible the application windows themselves take longer to show, giving the impression that the workspace switch is taking longer?

When you mention it takes longer using the keyboard shortcuts, is that any different when using the panel buttons?

It is the same amount. I think you are right about longer to show piece giving me an impression I bet! Xorg cpu goes up when I switch, is there a way to optimize Xorg settings for window switching? Or a way to increase some cache somewhere? Is it taking windows in and out of video ram then?
