Desktop freezes

Issue Description

I have the following issue for a couple of weeks now and I have no idea how to debug it correctly (possibly after upgrading from 4.18 to 4.20). I have no reliable way of triggering it but it happens more often when watching Youtube in Firefox or watching video in VLC. However, I triggered it once just browsing the web. When the issue triggers the desktop freezes and becomes a static image; apart from the mouse which I can still move around the desktop does not appear to render new updates. Audio continues and I have no trouble starting another terminal session with ctrl+alt+F2. I tried restarting lightdm which only partly works, it takes me back to the login screen which renders and gets updates, but as soon as I login I'm stuck looking at a mouse loading icon. The mouse keeps working, but I don't see any desktop panels. To try somethings I tried killing the xfdesktop and the xfwm4, the results were that the panels showed up and I could click once, after which everything froze again.

I have yet to have any problems while playing any games on the system; e.g. Dead Space, Diablo 2 Resurrected or Cyberpunk 2077. It seems to me the gpu seems stable.

Steps to Reproduce Issue

If I had any I would give them... what I would like now is some help on how to debug this. I'm even not sure if I'm posting this on the correct git since it might as well be lightdm or xfwm4 related. I don't see any weird logs in journalctl, this seems to be some silent freeze.

Expected Behavior

The desktop should not freeze and should be able to restart after restarting lightdm.

I might take a photo next time?
