Xfwm4 does ignore virtual monitors created with xrandr
I'm splitting my ultrawide screen using xrandr to create virtual monitors. In particular, I use the following script:
#!/bin/sh
if [ -z "$( xrandr --listactivemonitors | grep 'HDMI-1-1' )" ]; then
xrandr --setmonitor HDMI-1-1 1520/362x1440/346+0+0 HDMI-1
xrandr --setmonitor HDMI-1-2 1920/458x1440/346+1520+0 none
else
xrandr --delmonitor HDMI-1-1
xrandr --delmonitor HDMI-1-2
fi
xrandr --fb 3441x1440
xrandr --fb 3440x1440
(the later 2 are used to signal the monitor layout change to the system)
While other window managers (like openbox) let me use both virtual monitors, Xfwm4 let me only use the 1st one.
My workaround is to switch to openbox in the if branch and back to xfce4 on the else branch.
