Scroll wheel scrolls windows not lines

Xfce 4.14 Fedora 33

If you grab the mouse too hard, throwing it off the active window, then roll the middle mouse roller, Xfce activates the window that the mouse is now accidentally over and you start scrolling lines on that windows instead of the windows that was previously active. It is really, really ANNOYING! Please fix!

Aehm, not sure how that is supposed to be a bug.

So you leave the thunar window with the mouse, and than you scroll. The now active window will receive all mouse events now. Actually that makes sense to me.

Maybe you should just adjust your mouse sensitivity ?

In any case, that is not thunar issue. Assuming you use xfwm4 and moving it there.

FTR, pointer input events routing is done in the Xserver, not in the window manager.

If you pointer is over another window and you generate button events (such as mousewheel events) those events will be routed to that other window regardless of where your keyboard input focus currently is.

Oh, also, worth noting there is an option in xfwm4-tweaks-settings to avoid changing focus with any mouse button, just run xfwm4-tweaks-settings then “Accessibility” and uncheck “Raise windows when any mouse button is pressed”.

This way, the mousehweel events will not (accidentally) raise/activate that other window.
