Gap around gnome apps when tiled to side after maximized state

I tested this with Evince document viewer and gnome-disk-utility. Whenever I tile such an application from the maximized state to a side with a shortcut, for example "Tile window to the right", there appears a gap around the moved window.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Maximize gnome application
2. Use shortcut to tile it to a side

After using the shortcut for a second time the window changes to the expected position.
