"xfwm4-WARNING: Unsupported GL renderer llvmpipe" when "nouveau.noaccel=1"
Hi all,
I just installed linux mint ulyana and xfwm4 4.14.1-0ubuntu1 along with it, on several computers. I also created a customized debian live CD, plus kvm and virtualbox disk images imagesulyana-g20K* at http://fs.cyut.edu.tw/gregslab/20/ . On most computers both booting from hdd and from live usb (created from customized live cd) work fine.
On two computers the system hangs/freezes when I switch to a Chinese input method and type a few words. The input methods I tried include fcitx, gcin, and ibus. All give the same result. One computer has NVIDIA C61 [GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a] video card and the other has NVIDIA C61 [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430] video card according to lshw
. So I added nouveau.noaccel=1
on the append
line in extlinux.conf . Now upon booting, autologin fails and the screen flashes and goes back to the lightdm login interface. I switched to the textual VT, found some error message in ~/.xsession-errors , and did touch ~/.cache/sessions/xfce4-session-mistyhills:0
as suggested by the error message. Then I tried to login from lightdm again, and got the same screen flash and was sent back to the lightdm login prompt again. This time the ~/.xsession-errors message says:
(xfwm4:4503): xfwm4-WARNING **: 10:20:53.191: Unsupported GL renderer (llvmpipe (LLVM 9.0.1, 128 bits)).
Gdk-Message: 10:20:53.214: xfce4-session: Fatal IO error 11 (資源暫時無法取得) on X server :0.
where "資源暫時無法取得" is probably a translation of "resources temporarily unavailable.
So I installed and switched to openbox and/or icewm in place of xfwm4, and I was finally able to login to my system. My personal problem is kind of solved, but I think it would be nice if xfwm4 can be modified to support the nouveau.noaccel=1
mode as openbox and icewm do. Thank you all. Attached is
