Desktop right-click menu improvements (Copy to, Move to)
I'd like to propose a few improvements to the desktop right-click menu, namely an ability to quickly copy or move the selected file(s) without cutting/copying and pasting them in multiple steps. Please mark this issue as an enhancement or a feature request. I've also posted a similar request to improve Thunar's menu.
A submenu to copy (and possibly another one for moving) selected file(s) to common destinations (home, bookmarks) is a very handy feature for the right-click menu, requiring only a single step for common copy/move operations. In the Copy to
menu, it would also be useful to have an option to Make duplicate
instead of copying and pasting currently required. The Copy to
submenu could include Send to
options from Thunar as well.
An additional proposal is to merge the proposed Move to
submenu with the existing Move to Trash
(and the configurable Delete
). This doesn't require any elongation of the current right-click menu at all, but the right-click deletion get a bit less accessible since accessing the submenu is required - so this one should possibly be configurable. The (sub)menu entries I propose to remain/be made configurable are inside the square brackets in the recap below.
To clarify and recap, this is the current state of the relevant options in the desktop right-click menu:
Move to Trash
- [
Delete

Proposal A:
-
Copy to
: Duplicate here, Home, [Bookmarks],Send to
... -
Move to
: Home, [Bookmarks]... Move to Trash
