I modified the "XfdesktopIconView*" class style via gtkrc, for increase the density of icon placing, but now only a portion of desktop is usable for icons.
As a workaround, the following script places the icons and resets the desktop grid and I can place icons anywhere in the desktop:

Can you develop some autoarrange method for custom desktop grid or create possibility for change desktop grid settings?

When locking down XFCE with kioskrc or with the XML 'locked' attribute (in xfce4-desktop.xml), changes to the backdrop cannot be prevented in some situations. It seems that XFCE tries to find a 'monitorVGA0' section or similar depending on driver, while the XML section that is locked down is 'monitor0'. Thus backdrop settings can be changed by the user.

## Description
Hi XFCE,
if relative paths are used for wallpapers in `xfce4-desktop.xml`
like `<property name="image-path" value="my-wallpaper.jpg" />`
xfdesktop seams not to search in `XFCE_RESOURCE_DIRS`.
In constrast, icons in .desktop-files used in application menu are found if they are located in `$XDG_DATA_DIRS/icons/` (which is part of `XFCE_RESOURCE_DIRS`).
No absolute path is needed here.
It would be great, if xfdesktop would search `XFCE_RESOURCE_DIRS` for wallpaper paths, too.
Best,
Jens Henrik

xfdesktop shows for a couple of seconds the image that was shown in previous login, before showing a random one. This is annoying, unnecessary and anti-aesthetic. And in some machines the period is less than one second, which means the previous image is shown briefly and then changed.
Please, don't load the previous image. Only the new random image should be shown on new logins if random and login are selected. If this means delaying setting the image a second or two, so be it. A sensible background should be set initially by the login manager and a colour is usually set by xfdesktop as well.
Thanks in advance.

## Description
Hello,
I would like to request a rather simple but very useful feature that should hopefully be simple to implement, the ability to change the colour of the text displayed under desktop icons via a menu.
At this point it appears that the text colour of desktop icons can only be changed by a manual script one has to write and change when necessary.
My idea of an implementation of this feature would be similar to the way desktop wallpapers and colour are selected. This means you would have a dropdown menu with something like "system default" and "solid colour". Perhaps renamed to "default" and "custom" respectively, when custom would be selected a previously grayed out colour picker box would unlock and you could choose a colour, much the same way you would do for your desktop colour.
The reason for my request is that the default icon text colour doesn't work with every wallpaper and can make the text of desktop icons hard to read, by having a easy ability to choose the colour it would probably help a lot of users, it would allow them to adjust the contrast of the text so to speak.
In addition to the text colour, I wonder if the shading underneath the text could also be made to be a selectable colour or disabled if the user chooses to do so, but that would be only very minor, but could also help.

## Description
There's a scaled background style that scales images to screen size respecting the images proportions. However this option stretches images to occupy all of the screen when they are smaller. This is undesirable in most cases since upscaled images look ugly due to interpolation (well, really, that there were not that many pixels in the original image).
It would be useful if a downscaled style was added that only scaled images when they were bigger than the screen but doesn't upscale them if they are smaller. IMHO this should be the default behaviour of scaled, the other being stretch, but if scaled isn't going to change I think a downscaled is necessary. Please raise severity if this is considered a bug in scaled.

Using 3 monitors with 1080p 1440p 1080p some desktop icons are outside the visible screen area when configuring the monitors xXx in the desktop app.
Using the same configuration with the monitors like "X" works just fine.
It is probably unclear what I mean so I'll up it another way. If the top of the right monitor is aligned with the top of the middle monitor then desktop icons show up just fine. If the bottom of the left monitor is aligned with the bottom of the middle monitor then desktop icons are placed outside the visible area.
A solution is obviously to align all the monitors with the top line and not the bottom.

Patch file for xfdesktop-file-icon-manager.c
When moving a file from the desktop to any of the non-thunar file managers that I've tested, (Nemo, Caja, and Nautilus) rather than the file being moved like you would expect, it is copied to wherever you dragged it to in the file manager leaving you with two of the same file.
I'm new to programming/hacking, but after messing around with the source code I managed to fix the problem for me. I say I'm new to programming because I have no idea what the full ramifications of the changes I've made are yet, but the changes I did make were VERY simple so I don't see them having much impact.
I've pasted a patch file showcasing the differences between the original file (xfdesktop-file-icon-manager.c) and the one I changed to fix the issue. (xfdesktop-file-icon-manager-modified.c)
Basically, all I did was modify the file "xfdesktop-file-icon-manager.c" in "src" by changing the first two instances of "GDK_ACTION_COPY" to "GDK_ACTION_MOVE". That's it.
I'm not sure if this bug exists in the newest version, (using Xubuntu 16.04) but I think it's safe to assume it is since according to the xfce-mirror on github, this file hasn't been modified for 3 years.

## Description
I don't know why, but it is clear that xfce, that I really like, do not have a quality assurance test at all.
Sorry about this rant, but this is the n+1 time that I update my system (ubuntu dekstop 18.10) and my xfce
configuration got completelly fuckedup. I don't know why, but this time maybe it depends on some issue
related to gtk 2 -> gtk 3 transition.
In any case, this is a big issue since, I would hope to start a real discussion about this, usability is important but
developers NEVER think about it.
I'm a men that is used to work as in 1985, I really like simple desktop, FULL of icons. I really like to work with
the old desktop that just show me the icons and folder, I can move them as I wish, I can organize them as I wish.
BUT MORE IMPORTANT: I can read their name without any kind of strange ellipsize "..."
Sorry about the rant. I know how to fix this issue changing gtk style or at least, since there is no WAY to do this
in the desktop settings, since the program (xfdesktop) cannot figure out the space of the name by itself, but depends
on the THEME (WHY=??????), and since I start to be bored to cut and past after 20 minutes of google searches
(see this: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/33622/how-to-show-full-names-on-desktop-in-xfce)
And finally, since, after fixing everything and updating to ubuntu 18,10, everything is again completelly fucked up.
I have just one question: why? why the developers think that any users, that install your software can use it
if it can change the desktop background (silly, stupid, completelly useless future that get your attention for 10 microseconds)
but cannot read the file names or folder names.
Sorry again about the rant. But I'm really really upset. Do I have maybe to COMPILE from scratch the entire distribution to have a working
xfce desktop environment? it is a bug of the distribution (ubuntu)? or it is a bug of the application.. xfdesktop I don't know.
But I just know, that I'm bored of fixing stuff for every system update. and discover what fucking .css file I have to change, and how and why.
Basic desktop functions:
* Show icons. Move Icons around. open documents
* show folder, move folder arounds. open folders.
* show NAMES.
* then desktop background and other stuff.
