Unable to change incorrect file association in Default Applications module
I'm not sure if I'm reporting this in the right place, but I just wanted to let the XFCE development team know of an issue that I encountered in the Default Applications module.
Steps to reproduce:
(1) I first installed PDF Studio, following the instructions on this page. Because of a bug (or possibly malicious code) within PDF Studio, the newly installed app made itself the default handler for most filetypes, including filetypes such as C++ code.
(2) I then went to the XFCE Default Applications module, in order to identify the filetypes that had been incorrectly associated with PDF Studio.
I had previously encountered this error in Linux Mint. In Linux Mint, the Default Applications module lists relatively few filetypes, so I was able to quickly change the default application for those filetypes that had been incorrectly associated with PDF Studio.
However, in the XFCE Default Applications module, there are hundreds of filetypes listed, and most of these had been incorrectly associated with PDF Studio. (See the below screenshot.)
(3) I then laboriously began to correct the incorrect filetype associations. In most instances, I was able to change the applications with which the filetypes were incorrectly associated. I was annoyed that I had to spend time doing this, but I figured it was a one-time thing.
(4) Eventually, I began to encounter filetypes (e.g. files that have to do with C++ programming) for which I was unable to change the file association in the Default Applications module. Because of this, I decided to uninstall PDF Studio, as I felt that it was potentially dangerous.
