xfce4-display-settings half-drops profiles
Hi,
I'm lucky possessor of an external monitor that can be turned 90°, so that I can read papers/books in portrait format when I need to, but also use my computer more traditionally in landscape mode the rest of the time.
Thus, I had created 2 "profiles" in xfce4-display-settings:
- one with my laptop monitor in "normal mode" + the external monitor in normal/landscape mode
- one with my laptop monitor in "normal mode" + the external monitor in portrait mode
Yesterday, I messed up and clicked "updated profile" on one of the two profiles.
- BUG1: It disappeared from the list of available profiles!!!!
- BUG2: I thought it had been deleted, so I tried recreating it, but xfce4-d-m now tells me the profile already exists... I deleted the other profile(*) and tried to start again recreating them, but as attached screenshot shows, even if there in no profile listed in the list of profiles, trying to create on results in "error it already exists" !!!?!!!
EDIT: After seeing https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=15527 I can still see them in
- xfconf-query -c displays -lv
- xfce4-settings-editor Deleting as much as I could there enabled me to create a new profile with the same name, but the profile still does not appear in the profiles list !!!!
EDIT2: (*) In the mean time I played a bit with the 2 switches under "Connecting Displays" at the bottom of the page.
