Rudimentary display profile support for setups without proper EDID

Display profiles currently don't work in setups where one of the displays doesn't have EDID. This is the case on some laptops - Fujitsu E734 is one of them. The internal display doesn't appear to have an accessible EDID. Retrieval of EDID from external displays works fine, though. The setup looks like this:

The issue in this configuration is that the display profile list is empty even though a display profile has been defined (see displays.xml below):

I'm currently considering implementing a workaround for it - creating a fake EDID for the builtin screen and then giving it to X. However, it might also be possible to fix this within xfce4-settings. I think detecting a display without EDID by its presence on a given output (eDP-1 in this case) would be enough.
