xfce4-display-settings applies before pressing apply
One frequent deep papercut I experience with xfce4-display-settings is that the toggle switches to enable/disable an output and to set/unset primary also instantly apply configuration changes. This is almost always undesirable and makes the experience unnecessarily long and cumbersome. Furthermore, it can lead to unexpected and unwanted configuration changes.
Example 1 - unnecessarily long and cumbersome:
- Want to disable to disable monitor 2 and move monitor 3 somewhere else.
- Click on monitor 2, toggle off
- Everything blanks for a few seconds
- Once display is back, confirm dialog that pops up
- Move monitor 3 to desired location
- Click apply
- Everything blanks for a few seconds
- Once display is back, confirm dialog that pops up
Example 2 - unexpected changes:
- Scroll through list of available modes for monitor 1, inadvertently select one - shouldn't be a problem when I wasn't planning on pressing apply yet
- Enable/disable another monitor
- Monitor 1 suddenly has the previously selected mode, which is wrong/can't be displayed/throws all windows and icons around/makes it hard to find the display dialog again/is generally undesirable
Thanks!
