Left-handed mouse/touchpad not registering properly

When I attempt to change the mouse/touchpad settings via Settings, I have several issues. First, I normally use a Touchpad, and this issue happens when I adjust the settings of my PIXA3854:00 093A:0274 Touchpad device, however I also had similar issues using a mouse. First, when I switch the buttons to left-handed, it does change it so that the right button is primary and the left button is secondary, however when you go to tap-to-click, it also changes, which means that one-tap is a "left click" (ie. a right click that brings up menus) and two-taps is a "right click" (ie. a left click that opens tabs). Secondly, even though these settings have been changed, they don't stick. I was able to navigate to one webpage before suddenly my touchpad went back to right-handed mode, with one-tap to open. I know that I can fix these settings by adjusting in Terminal, but it's really frustrating to have to do that when the UI gives the impression of being able to handle it. I can provide further terminal info if needed, but when I last had to adjust this when I last used XFCE, the terminal output did show that the changes (ie. switching the buttons in Settings to left-handed) did not persist.
