xfce4-power-manager blocks screensaver

Description
xfce4-power-manager prevents xscreensaver from ever starting. And if the screensaver is started manually, about once a minute it wakes up and prompts for the unlock password. This would appear to be because xfce4-power-manager is sending keypress signals at a regular interval.
