Laptop does not suspend if screen lock fails

If, for whatever reason, the lock fails when suspending a laptop by closing the lid, the dialog asking if the user wants to suspend the system still appears. If the user isn't paying attention to their system, the dialog serves no purpose and makes the system continue to consume power and possibly overheat depending on how it is stored.
