Wayland: panel will sometimes fail to display components

I have an autohide side panel and a bottom panel. When I was first configuring my desktop in Wayland, and sometimes when I first log in, the bottom panel will be missing several components, notably the window buttons. It's not there and invisible; labwc is clearly active in the space normally taken by the panel. Oddly, fragments of the panel, usually the far right Action Button, will be visible, but not much else. If I manually restart xfce4-panel, it works fine. I'll attach screenshots of broken and working.
