Usage scenarios: Browser needs panel with tray, sound setting, screenshooter, time and keyboard layout. This is all convenient to see and use at all times. But in opening a movie player it becomes unnecessary and disturbing.
This is one of the scenarios, and they can be different.

It is not very usual to see for example after deleting and creating new panels the numbers 3, 4, and so on, when there are only two panels. That's why I thought it would be possible not only to make convenient numbers, but also to mark them as it is convenient for the user, for example, to avoid confusion what panel he edits.

I'd like to submit an enhancement request about the "autohide"/"intelligent hide" panel logic.
Not that it is a great problem, but never found any real workaround to solve this usability problem in spite of plenty of searches and trials.
Here's the problem :
1) If you choose a permanent panel, let's say on the left, the desktop icons are pushed to the right of the panel in order not to be covered by it. That is quite sensible.
There's still an option to decide not to preserve a space for the panel and allow the icons to be covered by it (don't know why someone would choose that, but it is available).
2) If I choose an autohide or intelligent hide panel, the desktop icons stay behind the panel, and furthermore, the preserve space option disappears ! That does not seem logical to me : if I autohide / intelligent hide the panel, I should be allowed to preserve space so that the icons stay away from the panel when it comes back.

There are probably more calendars starting different days, so maybe the week fields should be more customizable?https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/575When separator expands items on right dissappear2022-05-14T10:53:06ZArgyroudis AthanasiosWhen separator expands items on right dissappearxfce4-panel 4.16.4

I'm *not* suggesting removing the animation and keeping the bottom panel, since that leads to precious screen real estate being wasted and I already filed a bug report about that years ago ( https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14918 ). Instead I propose completely removing the bottom panel. I've been using Xfce for about a decade (probably will for the rest of my life) and the first thing I do after installing is delete the bottom panel. It's just useless. Every button down there can instead be put on the top panel, to the right of the "Applications" button, but to the left of the "open windows" section. On Microsoft Windows these are often referred to as "quick launchers".
It seems like the only reason the bottom panel is there is to mimic the MacOS look; but really you shouldn't, Apple sucks.
Kinda Off-Topic (but actually pretty related): The Applications Menu in top-left of screen should not show the "button title" (the word "Applications") by default, it should just be an icon. Or maybe a compromise could be to shorten the word to "Apps"?https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/551[FR] Switch desktop on the "Show Desktop" icon via mouse wheel2022-10-20T16:24:46ZFrancesco[FR] Switch desktop on the "Show Desktop" icon via mouse wheelSimilarly to how you can roll the mouse wheel on the desktop to switch to another desktop, or on the PulseAudio plugin to change the volume, it'd be really cool if it was possible to switch desktop on Xfce by rolling the wheel mouse on t...Similarly to how you can roll the mouse wheel on the desktop to switch to another desktop, or on the PulseAudio plugin to change the volume, it'd be really cool if it was possible to switch desktop on Xfce by rolling the wheel mouse on the Show Desktop button/applethttps://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/547[FR] Xfce-panel. one of the usability problems I have with Xfce is related to multi-monitor setups.
When you have a a panel e.g. on the bottom of a monitor, you can slam the mouse pointer to the bottom and then interact with the panel. But if you have another monitor underneath, you can't slam because the pointer ends up on the next monitor ;)
This is frustrating because a lot of muscle memory is involved in this slam. It also makes interaction more tiresome as more precise movements are needed.
Cinnamon (I think) has a solution to this. They simply prevent the cursor from moving past the outer edge of the panel, presumably using [pointer barriers](https://who-t.blogspot.com/2012/12/whats-new-in-xi-23-pointer-barrier.html). Could the same be implemented in Xfce's panel?
Of course this begs the question: How **do** you move past the panel when you actually intend to? This could be based on a certain speed, or a certain threshold (the same way Xfwm4's workspace wrapping resistance works currently)
Many thanks! :)https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/522Feature request: gray out empty workspaces in "Buttons" view2022-04-07T17:29:08ZPhilipp G. Hence, I've selected a relatively large base font (14 pt), and I've set the dpi settings to 160 dpi. And for some information which should be easily and quickly readable, I have to use much larger fonts (e.g. the time font in the datetime panel app is 28 pt).
However, the maximum row size for panels is limited to 128 pixel. This should suffice for horizontal panels, but it is definitely way too small for vertical panels:
- Window buttons would need several hundred pixels (400-500?) in width at that font and dpi size
- The panel is way too narrow for the datetime app, both for the time with seconds and for the date, and even for the time without seconds
- The icons in the workspace switcher are unrecognizably small
- For all the performance meters, the label (e.g. the network interface or disk name) does not fit.
- The CPU graph would also benefit from more width.
Please increase the limit e.g. to 512 pixel!https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/496Systray plugin always having icon artifacts2022-12-20T08:53:47ZRizal MartinSystray plugin always having icon artifactsSystray plugin always shows icon artifacts when the systray was moving or the icons on the tray changes/animates.
