The desktop preview would be better if you could use the name and the thumbnail at the same time.
Now you only know what desktops you have but not what applications are running on them or you know what applications are running but not on what desktops.
It would be better to find a readable way to combine both.

I would like to bring them closer together. I have my panel vertical, with labels for tasks, so that spacing is a bit wasteful for me.
Please make that smaller, at most 2px if you want to keep it, IMO, preferably 0, and add some default padding or margin i wouldn't know which one is best.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/361Workspace Switcher takes up extra width2022-04-05T10:40:44ZadsrWorkspace Switcher takes up extra widthI recently upgraded to 4.14 and notice the workspace switcher seems to have a minimum width now, taking up more space on the taskbar than needed. In my setup, I have 3 workspaces named `1`, `2`, and `3`. To illustrate the issue, the workspace switcher now appears as `[ 1 ][ 2 ][ 3 ]` instead of `[1][2][3]`. I have a problem with an application that tries to add widgets in the notification area, namely multiload-ng-indicator (freshly compiled from latest source from https://github.com/udda/multiload-ng). It does not manage to display correctly the different monitored items; I only see the default app icon (a pulse over a green circle). You'd say it's the application's fault but I experience the same error with others (like indicator hardware). So I guess it has something to do with libappindicator3 which is the common factor between these problematic apps.
Running the applications in a terminal I get a Gdk critical messages:
Gdk-CRITICAL **: 14:53:40.178: gdk_window_thaw_toplevel_updates: assertion 'window->update_and_descendants_freeze_count > 0' failed
(Followed by application warnings: Indicator is not connected to panel, thus it cannot be displayed.)
I am running Xfce 4.14, specifically xfce4-panel 4.14.4 (from CentOS 8 repository).
Any idea what's wrong? On the other monitors I use minimalistic panels.
I set my primary monitor "my laptop screen" and the panels are placed "automatically", especially since I use docking stations at home and at my workplace in the company.
(Different amount of monitors at each place)
I expect "Panel 1" to be automatically placed on my primary monitor.
Instead it is placed on the left monitor.
The laptop display is also marked as primary in XrandR.
If i set the "Panel 1" to be placed on the primary panel, I have 2 overlapping panels, since the "automatic" placed other panel remains on the primary one as well.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/356panel not at top after debian upgrade2022-04-05T15:02:27ZLaurent Alebardepanel not at top after debian upgradeHi,

As my upgrade broke many things, I have reinstalled my system from scratch, keeping only `/home`. The result is the same. I have tried to put the panel vertical and back to horizontal, nothing changed. I don't see anything in the configuration of the panel that can help me.

Things I've tried:
It doesn't matter whether the panel is a) oriented horizontally, positioned at top/bottom and display layout is two monitors above each other, or b) oriented vertically, positioned at side and display layout is two monitors besides each other.
Note:
This can be achieved by selecting the right display/monitor as output, or by selecting automatic output and keeping span monitors disabled.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/354Changing icon sizes2023-12-31T22:13:59ZJust call me BobChanging icon sizesHello, I'm having an issue with the icon sizes of the panel. To give some context my arrangement looks like this:
![VirtualBox_Void_13_10_2020_14_34_03-](/uploads/eb27b98e24cb17f0052d6ed6ad3dca26/VirtualBox_Void_13_10_2020_14_34_03-.png...Hello, I'm having an issue with the icon sizes of the panel. To give some context my arrangement looks like this:

As you can see it's very Windows-like and I'm trying to make it closer to the configuration I had in Windows 7... The problem is I can't change icon sizes in a satisfactory manner; if I change the row size of the panel all icons are enlarged except the window buttons \(tasklist\) which are stuck at 16px when showing labels. Also the notification area \(tray\) icons increase the spacing between them even though their size/spacing is controlled separately.
What I'm asking for here is a way to control each "element" of the panel separately, for example I want the Whisker Menu icon to be 32px, the window buttons to be 24px, and the tray+power manager+show desktop to be 16px. The panel would resize to the height of the tallest item and center the rest vertically without changing anything else.
Thank you.https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/353Pop up Terminal42021-02-08T05:04:24ZDominique BaudelinPop up Terminal4Hi,

I would like to request that along with a percentage slider for the length of the panel that a pixel length can be used as well. One sets the pixel size for the row size but the length does not use that.
I have two panels, one on top and one on the left hand of the screen. I have the one on the left at 100% and the one on the top at 98%. They over-lap one another ever so slightly but it is very noticeable. I've tried various row-sizes to match the two but unfortunately the panel is either too big or too small to get it perfectly aligned.
Thanks
