No thumbnails for .heic files

Not sure if this is still an issue on the master branch. I tried to compile and install (default location, guess this is /usr/local) master but then Xfdesktop was very buggy and took a long time to load and thumbnails did not load at all for xfdesktop. I have the current master branch installed from xfdesktop.

What's weird is that thunar advanced properties dialogue shows "heif/avif (HEIF/AVIF Image)" and "avif" is clearly wrong. Maybe this comes from the GDK pixbuf plugin because calling /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders gives me this entry:

Is there something special I have to do when installing tumbler master compiled from source and installed at default location? Of course I tried to reboot and I am on Xubuntu 22.04.
