Large GIF file breaks Thunar and crashes Linux/system
I made a large GIF file by running a ~15-minute .mp4 video through ffmpeg. When I put the file (~800MB) into a folder and try to open the folder in Thunar (v1.6.11), it opens the folder then after a minute or so with lots of disk i/o, it hangs the entire system. Frozen, no mouse, no KB, even the inittab getty key-bindings are frozen. I have to power cycle to recover. Maybe Thunar is trying to thumbnail all of the (100,000+) separate images in the GIF? I still got several GBs of disk space left, so it's not that.
Ristretto also breaks, but that would be expected trying play such a large GIF. The GIF file plays fine in a browser (Chrome 92.x).
my system: Dell notebook, xfce v4.12, Devuan "ascii"
(note: The naughty file is too big to attach, if you actually need it, I can find somewhere to put it for download.)
