PDF thumbnails are not generated

Thumbnails for pdf files are not being generated somehow. I do have the version from 20.04 (0.2.8-1). Everything else is working, jpg, png, cr2..

Edit: I can see the evince-thumbnailer doing stuff in tmp, but it does not result in working thumbnails somehow...
