IMHO, related with https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10234 (fixed???!) Reproduced in any distr of Linux and version of Thunar and also with last Thunar 1.6.10. 1) Open the Thunar in your PC. Go to smb://`<server>`/`<folder>`. Make a new file. 2) Go to `<server>` PC (Local folder of smb resource) and delete this file. 3) See your Thunar. Thunar not update folder file list. Only F5 (Ctrl-R) can help. (Also you can mount your desktop from the cifs share and make a new file with any another program. Only F5 or "xfdesktop --reload" can help). I would note, that not only Thunar have this problem. (Also Nautilus, Caja, PCManFM...). In any case, it does not add anything good. Version: 1.6.10
