Sidepane shortcuts desynced between instances

I am running thunar 4.16.11 (Xfce 4.16) on Artix Linux (updated within the last two weeks).

What I expected: the sidepane button to be either global or specific to one Thunar instance. What I saw: the sidepane button is a strange mix of global and instance-specific. Details below.

I run with the sidepane disabled by default. When I have two instances of Thunar open and enable the sidepane (using View/Sidepane/Shortcuts) in one instance, the sidepane appears in that instance only. So the sidepane is an instance-specific option, not a global option. Fine. But when I then look at the sidepane button in the other instance, it is now toggled on, even though the sidepane is not showing in that instance. If I want to see the sidepane in that instance, I need to cycle the button (View/Sidepane/Shortcuts) to off and then to on again, before the sidepane appears.

This is a low-criticality problem. Thanks for making Thunar.

Steps to reproduce

  • Switch off the sidebar in Thunar settings.
  • Open two GUI Thunar instances. There should be no sidebar showing. Only the current directory is showing.
  • In one instance, toggle on View/Sidepane/Shortcuts. Sidepane shortcuts appear for that instance.
  • In the other instance, look at View/Sidepane/Shortcuts. It is switched on, but the sidebar is not showing.
