Toolbar Breadcrumbs depend on previously opened tab

Open a few different directories in separate tabs & observe how the directory listed in the three tabs behaves. If the directory of a following tab is visible somewhere in the breadcrumbs of the preceding tab being looked at, it doesn't update the breadcrumbs to make them end at the directory being looked at, instead it changes which part of the breadcrumbs is 'highlighted' dark grey.
e.g. \directory-A\directory-B \directory-A\directory-C
Open 3 tabs, one each for directories-A, B, C. Switch between the tabs. The breadcrumbs when viewing directory-A will look different depending on which of the other two directories you were last looking at.
This is quite confusing because I initially look at the end of the breadcrumbs to see what directory I'm in.
If the behaviour is intentional then the following additionally makes it confusing: the directory being looked at is highlighted dark grey in the breadcrumbs, whereas the tab being looked at is conversely highlighted light grey (and the other tabs are darkened).
Ideally the breadcrumbs should be unique to each tab & end at the directory being looked at. No highlighting in the breadcrumbs would therefore be necessary.
