Side pane tree view loading time increased since version 4.17.4

Version 4.17.3 had a launch time apparently equivalent to 4.16.x, but with 4.17.4 this time seems to have been multiplied by a factor between two and three.

It's very rough, I haven't done precise measurements, but on my little laptop, Thunar 4.16.x takes less than a second to display its contents once the window has appeared. Thunar 4.17.4 takes two to three seconds.

This is probably justified by the new features added this summer, but I'm opening an issue in case something could be improved in this area.
