Gnome does not open a new window of thunar if one is already open in another workspace
When using the Gnome shell with the extension dash-to-dock
and clicking the desktop icon of thunar in a fresh workspace, Gnome will not open a new window of thunar in the current workspace if there is already a window open in another workspace and instead switch to that workspace. This behavior may be unwanted and annoying, at least for me.
Without the extension this issue does not persist.
The reason for this behavior appears to be that thunar has no new-window
action defined in its desktop file. Therefore I am raising this as an issue of thunar.
I was able to fix this issue by adding the new-window
action to the desktop file of thunar (in this repo under thunar/thunar.desktop.in.in) like shown below.
[Desktop Entry]
...
Actions=new-window;open-home;open-computer;open-trash;
[Desktop Action new-window]
Name=New Window
Exec=thunar %U
Of course localization needs to be added.
