Thunar should deal with the realpath
Currently Thunar shows in the location selector how you have got to the actually shown branch of the file system tree. If you got there by following a link, the way how you got there is reflected there, not the realpath.
Sometimes it makes sense to create springboards (links) to often used places in the file system. After using such a link, however, you want to be able to move on (e.g. go up one floor) as if you had gotten there the normal way, as if you had entered the realpath to that actual place. Currently Up brings you back to the place where the link is situated.
It would make sense if Thunar - at least as an option - always displays the realpath -L
to the current location in the field Location. After copying it should also deliver the realpath to the clipboard, not the possibly convoluted path via springboards, if that proposed option is set.
I would suggest to add a global option "always uses realpath to locations". An alternative would be to offer duplicate choices Up path and Up realpath and Copy by path plus Copy by realpath.
Notabene: the current choice using the path how you have got to a place is quite unusual. At least users first familiarized with Windows are used to only deal with the realpath in such a situation. They probably wonder about the existence of the chosen alternative.
