Note: Nemo, Caja (and probably Nautilus) do it this way:
in List view, text changes size in both zoom directions
in Icon view, it only changes size when unzooming (slightly smaller names when icons are tiny)
...which makes a lot of sense to me. You don't want huge text in a gallery view but why else would you zoom in list view other than to magnify the text?

In gallery view (!303) there will be no text at all. You probably refer to icon view ?
If so, why not? To me, that design makes not much sense and is inconsistent. How do you know if "zoom" was used by the user to better see the pics or to better read the filenames?

I only see that for Nemo. Caja just crops the text for smaller zoom levels.

I tested again and confirm Caja does it too. It only happens at a specific zoom level and it's subtle but noticeable.

Sorry, I didn't notice this draft and didn't know that the "Gallery" view is meant to become a new mode. I used the terms "Icon" and "Gallery" to refer to the same mode (Icon View)

In Icon view, I believe they made it behave this way because we usually prefer large and condensed thumbnails while still having file names in view but not with unnecessarily large text (at least that's my preference and my assumption for why they made this choice).
Very large text seems more to me like an accessibility feature, which I think would be better as an opt-in feature rather than the default.
It may be a tricky request which needs input from multiple users to make a firm decision.
